This crochet frog pattern was inspired by some very special friends that share my home office space with me. Twiggy, Fudge and Blob, my White’s Tree Frogs. These cute critters make surprisingly good pets. They are amusing, confident and hardy little personalities that bring a lot of fun to the family. My hope for this crochet frog toy was that it gave off some of their unique character, as well as being huggable, kid safe, and of course, super cute.

Your Crochet Frog Kit
To crochet your own cute froggy pal you will need the following:
- 200g green DK yarn
- 100g cream DK yarn
- A few strands of black DK yarn
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle
- Toy safe stuffing
- Safety eyes
Pattern Notes
Most of my crochet frog was made using single crochet continuous rounds worked from magic circles. The following abbreviations will be used in the pattern:
- sc – single crochet
- sc2tog – single crochet two stitches together
- 2sc – two single crochets into the same stitch
- cc – color change
This pattern is for the most part simple, but there are a couple of more intricate areas. The most notable are the feet, which require stitching back into a chain and slip stitching into the main body of the piece to produce the toes. I hope the illustrations will make this easier to follow, but just give me a shout in the comments if you need a hand (or foot, as the case might be!)
Crochet Frog Pattern
You will need to crochet your frog in separate sections. Once each one is complete, you can either lay them to one side and sew at the end, or join as you go. I generally find sewing at the end easier with a larger toy, but it shouldn’t cause any issues if you build as you go.

Crochet Frog Feet
This aspect of the front isn’t made in such a simple rotational round, so i’ve broken down your instructions into bullet points.
- Make a magic circle of ten stitches (6)
- 2sc x 10
- Chain 6, sc x 5 back into the chain. Slip stitch into the main ring. Repeat into the next stitch.

Sewing Your Crochet Frog Together
This aspect of your crafting creation has a little bit more artistic licence. You can choose where you think each aspect should be attached, but I’ll share some photos of my choices here. You’ll see that the eyes sit fairly high on the head, and that the head is tipping slightly forward to look more expressive.

When I’d finished crocheting my frog, my son informed me that he needed a smile. I wanted to leave him like you’ll see here, but he took some of the yarn I was using to make my crochet tarantula and laid it over his face. Well, he was right, it was cuter. So grab a length of black yarn, and use your yarn needle to sew the smile if you like that look better!

When your crochet frog is finished I’d love to see a picture if you want to share it on Facebook on Instagram! And if aquatic creatures are your thing, don’t forget to check out my crochet walrus pattern too.
Happy Crocheting,
