8 Free Halloween Crochet Patterns

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year for crocheting. I’m a total animal nerd, and it’s the only time of year that some of my favorite critters have mainstream crocheting appeal, like scorpions and spiders!

I love creating crochet designs for my favorite unusual animals, and they fit so nicely into this so-called spooky time of year.

Crochet Pumpkins

It wouldn’t be Halloween without a pumpkin, would it. Sure, you can carve up a squash and get in a right mess, but why not have a lovely time with yarn and some nice clean toy stuffing instead. These designs are very simple, and will last for a lot more than one seasonal holiday.

Crochet Black Cat

What’s more classically Halloween than a gorgeous black cat. This version is super quick and simple to make, but I absolutely love how the big eyes and adorable ears scream both spooky Halloween and cute little kitty!

Little Amigurumi Owl

What could go better with your witches cat, than an adorable owl familiar. This owl is a tiny but fairly intricate version, which makes a cute little holiday display item or even a fun themed keyring.

Big Crochet Owl

The bigger version of the owl is funnily enough a better project if you’re short on time, as it’s less detailed. This cute plush will make a lovely gift or part of a window display.

Squishy Plushie Frog

What could be sweeter around your cauldron than your very own froggy pal! This pattern is fast, easy and a perfect addition to your holiday display.

Crochet Mouse

If you want to make this mouse look less cute and more scary, then changing the yarn color to a dark gray could be a good seasonal adjustment.

Crochet Scorpion

A crochet pattern with a sting in its tail, I made this design based on my husband’s much loved pet scorpion, but there is no denying it fits well with the selection. However much you love scorpions, you certainly wouldn’t want to be surprised by one when you didn’t have your shoes on.

Crochet Tarantula

Despite my love of all unusual critters, I’ve got to admit I’m still a bit arachnophobic. Fortunately, my fear of spiders doesn’t extend to the furry world of tarantulas. They fit well into the Halloween theme, but I hope you still find this creation as cute as I do despite his many legs.
