Crochet Easter Eggs

Easter is one of my absolute favorite holidays, probably because it marks the start of Spring and gives me a couple of weeks where I don’t have to do school runs but instead get to spend time with my kids.

However, you might be surprised to hear that I’m not actually a big fan of one of the main aspects of a modern Easter – chocolate. Don’t get me wrong, I like some chocolates a bit, but I’m in no way a chocoholic. So I’ve always tried to bring some other things into my Easter celebrations. In previous years I have of course got chocolate eggs for my kids, but i’ve also crocheted each of them an Easter toy too. This year, I decided to go one step further and also crochet some eggs. Don’t worry, they’ll still get some candy too!

Crochet Easter eggs are fun toys, table decorations, and in my house they are also going to be used as part of our much loved annual Easter egg hunt in the back yard.

The Stitches

• Magic circle
• sc – single crochet
• 2sc – two single crochets into one stitch
• sc2tog – join two stitches together with one single crochet
• ch – chain
• cc – color change

What You’ll Need

• 3.5mm crochet hook
• 50g cream DK cotton blend yarn
• 50g light pink DK cotton blend yarn
• 50g dark pink DK cotton blend yarn
• Toy safe stuffing
• Steel yarn needle

One Color Crochet Easter Egg Pattern

Choose your Easter Egg’s color and work in the 3.5mm hook.

Round 1

Make a magic circle of 6 stitches (6)

Round 2

ch2, 1sc into the same st, 2sc x 5, slst into top of ch2 (12)

Round 3

ch2, 1sc x 11, slst into top of ch2 (12)
