Crocheting Puff Stitch Ripples
Looking for a way to take your ripple stitches to the next level? Then you have to check out this crochet wave puff stitch pattern. If you are familiar with the ripple stitch when worked as a single or double crochet you’ll have no trouble at all adding in your puff stitches. If you are new to ripple stitches, don’t worry, there will just be a little extra concentration needed while we begin. But you’ve got this!
The Stitches
You’ll need to be familiar with the following stitches to make your ripple puff stitches. If there are any you don’t know yet, then just follow the links attached to the abbreviations to get a full guide with beginner friendly instructions.
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
dc2tog – join two stitches together with a double crochet
PS – puff stitch
sk – skip
Foundation row
To create a puff stitch ripple you’ll need a foundation chain which is a multiple of 17 + 2
In this example I’ve made a foundation row of 36 ((17 x 2) + 2)
Working back into your chain, dc into 4th chain from the hook, then dc2tog x 2
*(Ch1, PS) x 5, Ch1, dc2tog x 6
Repeat from * until only six chains remain, then dc2tog x 3.

What To Do With Your Puff Ripples?
My current ripple stitch project which inspired this guide is a blanket. I’m going to alternate groups of rows of puff stitch ripples, and standard ripples. I think it’s going to look amazing when it’s finally done and I’ll add a picture or three when it’s complete.
But these can also be used to make gorgeous scarves or even incorporated into garments too!
