This is not the blog post I wanted to be writing today.
Sharing fun memories of an awesome weekend, along with great new crochet ideas and inspiration.
But life doesn’t always go our way.
The Knit And Stitch Show
For several months I have been very excited about the Knit and Stitch Show at Alexandra Palace. Hundreds of stalls, thousands of craft lovers.
A friend and I had booked tickets, and couldn’t wait. A day picking through new yarns, chatting crochet and getting inspired.
But a week ago things started to go wrong for me.
The Smallest Problems….
To cut a long story short, on Tuesday I trod on something sharp. I then thought no more about it. Until Wednesday morning, when I awoke to find my foot swollen, red, hot and sore.
Sadly, I was mistaken.
I will leave out the gory details to save the less medically inclined readers, and skip to Saturday morning.
When I limped out of the hospital, following a last minute operation on my foot.
You have never seen a mark as small as the one that led to an inch long, bone deep incision a few days later.
I would love to pop a photo up for you here, but I’m guessing that most people don’t want to see that sort of thing!
But in summary, instead of having an amazing day on Sunday with my friend, I had a home day. Trying not to show my lovely family how utterly gutted I was to be in their company at home, in pain, stuck on a couch instead of at the show.
Where I am Now
I am now sat with the naughty foot on the desk. Complete with the stitches that are holding things together, and an awful lot of caffeine in a very rude mug.
It’s Tuesday as I write this, a single week since the original offending anonymous spike occurred.
My foot is very painful and I can’t really walk on it. But I am doing my best to hobble slowly around and get on with things.
Staying off your feet when you have a three year old is no easy task.
I haven’t blogged for a while, because I didn’t want to mope or whinge to you guys. But it looks like life is going to be this sedentary way for a while as I recover, so I need to get over myself.
Yes, I am finding things difficult and painful. But it will get better, and let’s face it, things could be an awful lot worse.
Although I can’t run or train, I can definitely do one of the things I love the most.
New Crochet Projects
Due to my physical inability to rush around like normal, I have had much more time to hook yarn.
I have over the past few days finished two commissions and made myself an awesome new scarf. The pattern will be going up for it very soon, so you can make your own too.
I have started sketching out some ideas for a new baby blanket, as my lovely cousin is expecting in the next few months. Along with making a few crochet hairbands for my little girl, which I will share when I have some half decent photos!
I was also just commissioned to make a new crochet puppy toy, for a different breed of dog. I can’t wait to get started on him, and will be sharing my progress on this blog as I go along.
What About You?
If you were lucky enough to visit the Knit and Stitch Show this weekend, I’d love to hear about it.
